Food & Facilities
At Buttercups, have an onsite cook and kitchen team providing fresh meals daily. Every meal is freshly cooked and prepared on the day it is served, we provide a healthy portion of food for children and whether its a roast dinner or a shepherds pie – there is always enough for seconds! We cater for all dietary preferences, intolerances and allergies – all staff members across the building have a Level 2 in Food Safety and Hygiene and have extensive and continuous training in Food Allergy Awareness.
All of our food is sourced from local businesses, ensuring that we not only support British farming, but know exactly where our produce is coming from and what is in it. Our meat comes from the local butchers and is delivered fresh weekly along with our fruit and veg, it is so important to us that the children at Buttercups are fed fresh, home-cooked, high quality meals – feeding both their bodies and their brain!

Our Menus
We believe that healthy food should be nutritious and delicious! Our menus are carefully planned to meet current government guidance and recommended early years nutritional standards, ensuring children receive a balanced and varied diet to support their growth, learning and development.
We believe that children deserve the very best when it comes to the food they eat. That is why we use fresh, high-quality and locally sourced produce wherever possible. Fresh ingredients help us create meals that are full of flavour, varied and appealing to young children, while high-quality ingredients allow us to provide nutritious meals that support healthy growth and development. By preparing our food fresh each day, we know exactly what goes into every meal and can offer children wholesome, home-cooked food rather than relying on heavily processed or pre-prepared alternatives.
From a nutritious breakfast and healthy snacks to a wholesome lunch and delicious tea, we provide a wide variety of tasty, child-friendly meals that little ones can enjoy while developing positive and healthy attitudes towards food.

Our breakfast is served between 8am – 8.30am at a cost of £2.00 per day.
Lunchtime is at midday, and sits at a cost of £3.50 per day (added to your monthly invoice). Children are also served a delicious pudding included in this price.
Tea is served at 4pm, and costs £2.50 a day.
Throughout the day we also have morning & afternoon snacks. Fresh Fruit is offered/available at every mealtime. Very young children may have alternatives at meal/snack times on occasions.
We do encourage all children to have a hot lunch at Nursery, as it helps them with trying new foods and is often healthier then packaged foods you would have in a lunchbox. We do completely understand if you chose to have a lunchbox, we know many children are particular about their food choices and how difficult this can be. We do ask that if your child is bringing in a lunchbox, that it is in a named container and adheres to our Healthy Eating Policy – no fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate are sent to nursery and sugary and fatty foods are kept to a minimum. We are unable to heat up any food brought in a lunchbox.
We are a nut-free nursery and kindly ask for no nuts or food containing nuts are brought in.
